Caught on video is a man claiming to be an off-duty Chicago PD officer pinning a 14 year old boy to the ground with his knee, accusing him of stealing his son’s bike.
The parents of the boy says the incident happened as their son was with his friends and saw an abandoned bike laying on the sidewalk at the Starbucks in Park Ridge, Illinois on Friday.
They stated that their son, who is Puerto Rican, had his own bike with him and tried to move the abandoned bike out of the way and that’s when the alleged off-duty officer attacked him.
In the video we can see that he pinned the boy to the ground but not the whole incident, the boys parents shared that the man grabbed their son by the wrist, slammed him to the ground and pinned him with his knee.
It is said that the man’s son’s bike had allegedly recently been stolen from a location close-by.
In the video, the boys friends came to their friend’s defense and pulled him away from the man.
The man told the officers who was called to the scene, that he was an off-duty Chicago Police officer. The Chicago Police Department states that they are conducting an internal investigation on the matter.
The parents of the 14 year old are upset pointing out their son was the only one in his group of friends of a different ethnicity and they will be filing a formal complaint about the incident very soon.
So far, no arrests have been made.
