The woman who drowned in the Rio Cobre River, Flat Bridge, St. Catherine is now identified by the police, as Ava Thelwell, age 49, of Shortwood Drive, Kingston 8, St. Andrew.
The police have gained information that, Thelwell, was seen around the bridge since 10:00am, where she stayed until approximately 2:20pm, when she allegedly drove on the bridge, stopped and then drove her motor vehicle, a Suzuki Grand Vitara, into the river.
On the seen divers assisted her and she was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
It is suspected that she committed suicide. The police says, that they will investigate further into the occurrence.
